I was at Auckland War Memorial Museum for three months as a contract graphic designer, helping the marketing team with their design requirements. Projects were many and varied, and included working on marketing material for the Brickman® Wonders of the World exhibition, Secret Life of Butterflies exhibition, quarterly What’s On booklet and various other material required by stakeholders within the Museum.
Secret Life of Butterflies exhibition
I had the pleasure on working on the Secret Life of Butterflies exhibition, which runs from June 2018 - May 2019. Imagery was taken from the exhibition to use for the marketing, resulting in whimsical, striking and fun pieces. Each piece had butterflies interacting with the frame of the Auckland Museum brand and the physical frame of the piece itself. One of the most prominent pieces was a 5 metre Adshel bus shelter on Quay St, where the butterflies interacted with the bus shelter frame, the seats and even the people waiting for a bus.
With so much going on at the Museum, a quarterly booklet is produced to help promote the upcoming events and exhibitions.
I designed and produced this version of the What’s On, which was very well received by the stakeholders around the Museum.
Brickman® Wonders of the World exhibition
Auckland Museum hosted the Brickman® Wonders of the World exhibition, displaying over 50 LEGO sculptures of iconic things from around the world. I designed a large range of marketing material to support the exhibition: including street posters, press ads, pull up banners, flyers, signage and the iconic large scale banners at the northern entrance of the Museum.
As a result of the team’s promotional effort, ticket sales exceeded its target by an additional 40%.
Anzac Day is Auckland Museum’s biggest day of the year. The whole place is given a thorough spruce up for the dawn service and civic service, which takes place by the cenotaph.
The Auckland Museum marketing team produces the programme for the day and various informational pieces about the day in the newspapers and online. I produced the programme and press ads for this commemorative event.
